I was very excited to pick and bet on Macy against Rose, but she dropped so we have a short notice Tracy Cortez stepping up. Tracy was supposed to fight the following week so although this matchup is new, she was already in training camp for a matchup against Miranda Maverick.
Tracy having striking success sin her last fight might actually be a problem here. She may be under the illusion that she can hang with Rose on the feet and that would no go well for her. Rose has too much experience and too many high level fights to lose here. I can see Tracy having some wrestling success, but not enough to win. Rose should be able to have the bigger moments striking and as the fight goes on, the Cortez takedowns will be easier and easier to stuff which will only help Rose with the judges. Rose Namajunas is the pick and either the round over or the points spread may be solid bets.
Rose Namajunas
Rose Namajunas is the former strawweight champion who is now at 125lbs. Rose is a very good fighter everywhere and is definitely the more well rounded fighter in this matchup. She has excellent striking, very good wrestling an solid BJJ. Rose has great footwork and deceiving power. She has wins over Joanna Jedrechek, Teceia Torres, Jessica Andrade and Weili twice. As much as she can be a bit cringy and I find myself always wanting to pick against her, I cannot argue her accomplishments. She is coming off the close decision over Amanda Ribas where she was taken down 4 times.
Tracy Cortez
Tracy Cortez is a fantastic wrestler and grappler. She is listed has having a positive striking differential but you need to keep in mind that she also gets almost 3 takedowns per fight and spends the majority of her time on top. Her striking is technical and busy but not powerful. Her takedowns however are clean and when she gets to the ground she has great control. Despite having incredible BJJ she isn't very dangerous and relies on her wrestling and cardio to grind out wins. She is coming off the decision win over Jasmine Jasudavicious where she gave up the takedowns but had much improved striking.
