People always comment that I favor wrestlers and of course I do. Wrestlers can control where the fight goes. If they are winning the striking exchanges, they can keep it on the feet. If they are losing the striking exchanges, they can get it to the ground. Miranda will likely be losing the striking exchanges and need to get this to the ground. So the question is, can she. Can she get this to the ground. If she can, then she could pull off the win here. The fact that this is 3 rounds seems to favor Miranda because Rose tends to be a slow starter. But even though her career has fallen off, Rose is on a different level than Miranda. I think her footwork and striking should be good enough to avoid any of the easy takedowns and this may look exactly like rose vs Tracy Cortez. Rose is the pick, but this is another really tricky matchup.
Rose Namajunas
Rose Namajunas is the former Strawweight champion. Rose is a very good fighter everywhere and is definitely the more well rounded fighter in this matchup. She has excellent striking, very good wrestling an solid BJJ. Rose has great footwork and deceiving power. She has wins over Joanna Jerjecheck, Tecia Torres, Jessica Andrade and Weili twice. As much as she can be a bit cringy and I find myself always wanting to pick against her, I cannot argue her accomplishments. She is coming off the grinding loss to Erin Blanchfield last year
Miranda Maverick
Miranda Maverick is a pressure fighter with solid takedowns and activity. She's very strong and uses her strength well. She averages more than 2 takedowns per fight but when she can't get takedowns she does struggle. She does have a positive striking differential of about 4-3 but the goal is typically to work forward and get a takedown but she did struggle to do that in her last fight. She is coming off the decision win over Jamey-Lyn Horth where she struggled with takedowns against the cage and lost the second round, but was able to get an open mat takedown in the third to lock in the win.
