This is a great fight that should be a blast to watch. Two high level kickboxers stepping into a cage with 4z gloves. I'm pretty sure credential wise, Cesar is the better kickboxer, but this is MMA. The question now becomes, will they fight an MMA fight or is this just kickboxing with little gloves? Roman is without a doubt the more well rounded fighter and actually has a couple of takedowns in the UFC, including against Punahele Soriano who was a D3 all American wrestler. I actually want to pick Cesar here. I think he is the more dangerous fighter and Roman gets hit more than you'd like, but I can't ignore that this is MMA and roman may sneak in a takedown or two. Roman will be the razor thin pick.
Roman Kopylov
Roman Kopylov is a very good kickboxer with professional experience. He picks his shots well before settling in and weaving together nice combinations. He is 4-3 in the UFC and has essentially has not only beaten, but knocked out everyone who wouldn't take him down. He has an 87% takedown defense but won't need it in this fight. He is coming off the submission loss to Anthony Hernandez.
Cesar Almeida
Cesar Almeida is a big time professional kickboxer who has had success at the highest levels. Think Alex Pereira, in fact he fought alex and went 1-2 against him. He does everything you expect a high level kickboxer to do. He has clean combinations, big power, good work and is very dangerous every second the fight remains standing. His takedown defense in the middle of the cage is non existent, but he can defend well against the cage. If he is taken down has does a nice job shooting to the cage and working back up. Overall Cesar Almeida is a very dangerous striker who is still workin on his ground game. He is coming off the KO win over Dylan Budka.
