While this is short notice for both, Montel has been in and out of camps these last few months with a few scheduled bouts that fell through. This is a sneaky good matchup. Both of these guys have solid grappling and decent striking. Montel is the more accomplished wrestler but Da'Mon is more likely to use it in a fight. Montel has more power, but Da'Mon is more technical. Da'Mon is a great underdog in this spot and if he initiates the wrestling, he can win. I do think though that Montel's power and offensive wrestling is going to be the difference. Montel is the pick but I am waiting for props to drop before placing a bet.
Montel Jackson
Montel Jackson is a good wrestler in his own right with solid striking and legit power. He is good everywhere and has a resume full of KOs, Decisons and even Submissions. His takedown accuracy is an impressive 71% with an average of more then 3 per fight. Often times people focus on his power and not his wrestling credentials. At one point in time he was at the Olympic Training facility and hopes to compete at that level. He is coming off the KO win over an aging Rani Yahya.
Da'Mon Blackshear
Da'Mon Blackshear is an athletic striker with impressive speed and power. He can grapple as well with takedowns in every one of his UFC fights including his fight against Mario Bautista that he took on less than 1 week's notice. He has solid volume in his strikes with technical boxing and clean takedowns. He does have 3 losse sin the UFC but all of them are quality
