On paper, Michael Chandler should dominate here. He is an athletic and powerful division 1 wrestler with dynamite in his hands. But that version of the Chandler, the one who went to hell and back with Eddie Alvarez in a few all-timers, is gone, he stayed in Bellator. The version we have here in the UFC is wildly exciting, a ton of fun to watch, a great addition to the roster, but going nowhere near the belt. He cares more about being fun than winning and while I have no doubt I will be thoroughly entertained, i do have doubts that Chandler will do anything other than sit on right hands. Paddy is the pick, I bet on him at -160 and the only hint of concern I have is that he keeps his chin wildly high.
Michael Chandler
Michael Chandler is supposed to be a very good wrestler who likes to strike. He has tons of power and solid pressure. He has no kicks but is always fun. He is at a point in his career where he fights for bonuses and not championships. His all-timer against Justin Gaethje was a perfect example. He had a takedown and could've pushed that plan, but instead decided to slug it out. He is coming off the decision loss to Charles Oliveira where he was out wrestled by a Brazilian striker.
Paddy Pimblett
Paddy Pimblett is becoming a mega star and has done it pretty quickly. He is a well rounded guy with a good amount of experience. He can be hittable because he tends to keep his chin high, but has very solid striking offense with a ton of volume. He's a very smooth grappler who flows well on the ground and if he sures some things up, he has the tools to be the next big thing. He is coming off the triangle and armbar technical submission win over King Green where King shot a takedown and it was down hill from there.
