I do my graphics about a week out then I do the full write-ups and picks. So on a typical fight card I am a week ahead. For this card I was 2 weeks ahead because I knew I was traveling for work last week so needed to get all the graphics done early. When doing this graphic, I instantly, without hesitation, went “Melk is the pick, high confidence”. When i have those instant picks and don't think about all the ways the fight could go wrong, i have a ton of success. Melk should literally be better everywhere and the only real concern would be his activity. This will be his 5th fight in a year and that could be wearing on him. Melk is the pick and I am surprised he is not a tremendous favorite.
Julian Erosa
Julian Erosa is a long guy for the weight class and he uses his length really well both on his feet and on the ground. He is very well rounded with high output striking at more than 6 significant strikes per minute and solid wrestling at almost 2 takedowns per fight. He is dangerous everywhere and an absolute dog. But despite all those praises, he's not very good. He is coming off the destruction over a geriatric Darren Elkins
Melk Costa
Melk Costa is a well rounded guy with creative striking and solid grappling. His takedown defense is not great, his offensive takedowns are just ok, but his scrambles are incredible. You will see him work for takedowns often, but he doesn't need them in most matchups. He has powerful hands and solid technique. He strings together combinations well and will even mix in spinning attacks. He is coming off the decision over Christian Rodriguez where the scrambles were the difference.
