Josias Musasa vs. Carlos Vera

VERA VS MUSASA

This is a fun matchup because Carlos is probably the better all around fighter. He's athletic himself, he has fun striking, very good grappling and is pretty tough. But he is also a shrimpy little thing who is likely going to get his chin checked. Josias has fight ending power, especially early. If Josias ends up on top, he while work for a TKO finish while Carlos is trying to tickle feet. Josias is going to be the pick because of how insanely dangerous he is, but my warning to you is that we have only seen him go to a decision once, it is very possible he punches himself out early and then loses rounds 2 and 3 when he slows down.

Josias Musasa

Josias Musasa is a fast and powerful striker who does a very good moving forward and looking for a finish while maintaining his defense. He isn't much of an offensive wrestler, but if he ends up on top, he will wail away looking for a finish. He has insane power, especially at this weight class and he knows it. Which is why he moves forward and head hunts. He's a ton of fun to watch, very creative on the feet and very fast everywhere. He is coming off a close win on the Contender Series to make his way into the UFC.

Carlos Vera

Carlos Vera is a short thick guy who is very athletic and moves well. He has a lose striking style where he has constant movement and tons of kicks. He is well rounded enough to strike, wrestle and grapple, but his takedowns and hips aren't great and he actually somehow ends up in trouble after attempting takedowns. He has aggressive BJJ off his back and will roll for anything he can find. He is at the Ryan Hall camp and he will play those BJJ nerd games. On his feet he will wing punches and throw creatively with power, on the ground he will chill in guard while hunting for something. He is coming off the loss to RInya Nakamura where Joe Rogan had to change his underwear at the thought of Carlos rolling for a leg lock
