Jordan Leavitt vs. Kurt Holobaugh

HOLOBAUGH VS LEAVITT

I think Jordan is a straight up BJJ nerd who's only chance here is to end up on top. If he was a better wrestler I'd be nervous, but his takedowns kind of suck and even though Kurt's takedown defense sucks, I think he makes up for it with pressure, striking and general grappling awareness. Kurt is the pick, I have no idea how much longer he will be the dog and I have a half a unit bet on him at +140.

Jordan Leavitt

Jordan Leavitt is an old school grappler. I do a lot of breakdowns where I say “he's well rounded”, but thats not Jordan. He's very one dimensional with sub par striking and wrestling. The problem with Jordan is that because his striking isn't a real threat, he can't use it to set up takedowns and because his wrestling is less than ok at 25% accuracy, he needs perfect setups to get takedowns which are not easy to come by. He is coming off the submission loss to Chase Hooper last year.

Kurt Holobaugh

Kurt Holobaugh is an Ultimate Fighter winner who was able to do so late in his career. Style wise Kurt is a come forward striker with pressure and power. He marches forward, throws combinations, then ducks out, resets and goes again. He has some wrestling as well but could use a little more takedown defense. His BJJ however is very good and is actually what won him the Ultimate Fighter title. He is coming off the questionable loss to Alexander Hernandez where the striking was aggressive and the BJJ was solid.
