I opened this by saying Jan is a former world champion and then listed a few of his bigger wins. If you listen to those names, they are all middleweights. Jan only has 1 single win over a UFC light heavyweight and it was a 2020 Dominic Reyes in his get KO'd era. Jan's last win was a freak injury win over Alexander Rakic in a tied fight 3 years ago. Before that was a win over middleweight Izzy 4 years ago. I like Jan, he throws big, seems like a good dude, when we met him at UFC 303 he couldn't have nicer, but I don't see it here. At 42 I think he's too old and too slow. Carlos didn't look the best in his last fight and I think thats whats keeping the line close here, but Ulberg is the pick and I am pretty confident there.
Jan Blachowicz
Jan Blachowicz is the former Light Heavyweight Champion of the world who has had a rocky couple of fights since then. Jan is a striker who hits incredibly hard and has solid wrestling, we don't see the wrestling often but we did see it against Prime Izzy and Alex Pereira. He is a well rounded guy with a world of experience. He is 12-7-1 in the UFC with wins over Jared Cannonier, Jacare Souza, Luke Rockhold and Izzy Adesanya. He is coming back after 2 years away and a very close loss to Alex Pereira.
Carlos Ulberg
Carlos Ulberg is a world class kickboxer who transitioned to MMA. He is a big guy with incredible footwork and great range management. His striking differential is an impressive 7 to 4 and he has an 83% takedown defense. His only MMA loss was a KO to Kennedy Nuchkwi in a fight that he was absolutely dominating. He is coming off the close decision win over Volkan Oezdemir where he was more hittable than usual but had the bigger moments.
