Here's a fun drinking game, let's take a shot every time one of the announcers mentions that Jai Herbert dropped Ilia in 2002. The kid is living off of that highlight. Its an amazing thing for sure, but the reality is that he was knocked out cold shortly after that. Jai has fought some high level competition in the UFC, like Ilia, like Moicano, like Ludovit Klein, but he hasn't beaten any of them. I think he is a little overrated and I think his mediocre takedown defense won't hold up. I'm picking Padilla here. I do hope he wrestles more in this fight than he did his last, but he should have the tools and pressure to sneak out a win.
Jai Herbert
Jai Herbert is a technical striker who likes to keep the fight at range. He has a ton of movement and his feet are never planted for more than half a second. He is always cutting angles, fainting and moving from side to side. He can be a bit low volume and does have a negative striking differential. His takedown defense is decent but he has been taken down by some of the better fighters in the division. He is coming off the decision win over Rolando Bedoya where his volume was better than usual
Chris Padilla
Chris Padilla is a pretty well rounded guy that has had mixed success on the local scene but seems to have found a rythym as of late. He likes to come forward, briefly strike, move to a clinch and work a takedown. He's not great at anything but he does pressure forward and he is pretty durable. He's very explosive, especially with his takedowns. He has plenty of activity and plenty of cardio. He is coming off the KO win over Rongzhu where he was striking early and didn't look to wrestle.
