Welcome to leg 3 of my “I hope this breaks” parlay. I love Max, we all love Max, Ilia is making it easier and easier to like Max as well with his Conor McGregor style heel turn. But as much as we love Max and as much as we are learning to dislike Ilia, that doesn't change the fact that Ilia is nasty. Dude is fast as hell with real power. Clean as hell in his wrestling entries and overall spectacular. We have only ever seen him look human one time when he got dropped by Jai Herbert, but he recovered and won that fight by KO. Ilia has to be the pick here, I think he is just going to be too fast and too diverse for Max, but if Max wins and I lose my 1 unit parlay because of this leg, that will be money well spent.
Ilia Topuria
Ilia Topuria is incredibly well rounded and very dangerous. You may look at his record, see he has knockouts in half his UFC fights and assume he is a striker, but he is a Georgean who averages more than 2 takedowns per fight. What makes him so impressive is he doesn't have a set gameplan. He comes into fight striking and depending on where things go, transitions to his wrestling. He is coming off the heartbreaking KO win over Alexander Volkanovski to win the belt.
Max Holloway
Max Holloway is an amazing striker with very fluid movements that keep his volume and pressure up. He is the all time Significant Stirke king and has put up astromonical numbers. He rounds it all out with with an 84% takedown defense and an entire championship career worth of experience. He is a staple at 145lbs where his only loss in the last 10 years was to perennial champion Alexander Volkanovski. He is also the current BMF champion where he won the belt with the all time KO over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300.
