Ian is a very good striker, but he have seen him get outs truck before. MVP was dotting him up early at UFC 303 before Ian turned into a wrestler but before we say this fight could look identical to that. I want to point out a few differences. First of all, MVP has that tricky Karate style that confuses a lot fo fighters and secondly, MVP's takedown defense is legit terrible. While we haven't seen Prate's defend too many takedowns, I have to assume they are better than MVPs. Garry being the slight favorite makes sense here given his experience and grappling abilities, but I do think Prates may be too good of a striker which will frustrate the hittable Garry. Prates is the pick, but I am too scared to bet.
Ian Machado Garry
Ian Garry is a solid striker with crazy hand speed and fantastic footwork. He is hitable but lands an impressive almost 6 signifigant strikes per minute and has solid enough takedown defense to keep most fights standing. While he does have power, it is not necessarily one punch KO power, its more timing and speed that catches his opponents off guard. He has been training with Chute Box for a little while now and while they haven't bestowed their signature aggression upon him, they have improved his grappling quite a bit
Carlos Prates
Carlos Prates is a dangerous striker with big power and range control. He is pretty light on his feet and manages to throw kicks to any body part whenever he wants. He will launch head kicks on the drop of a dime, he will throw spinning kicks and he will defend most takedowns that come his way. His power and accuracy are absolutely insane. He also has surprisingly good cardio for a smoker and the confidence of a world champion. He is coming off the KO win over Neil Magny
