Gerald Meerschaert vs. Brad Tavares

TAVARES VS MEERSCHAERT

Every Gerald Meerschart fight is exactly the same. He goes in there and gets his ass kicked. Sometimes though, he survives that ass kicking and ends up on the ground where he can snatch up a submission. The problem is, I don't necessarily think that is going to happen here. Brad's takedown defense is very good and he won't be looking to offensively wrestle. So they will stay standing and Gerald will get tagged up. So Brad will be the pick and while I am pretty confident in him, -210 seems crazy for a dude who's only win in 3 years is a decision over Chris Weidman who was coming back after the leg injury. WITD Dec. no action is the Meerschaert play.

Gerald Meerschaert

Gerald Meershaert is a very good grappler who is always live for a submission. He is not great on his feet and people question his chin but he is tough and he won't quit on himself. He is an incredibly talented grappler but like so many others, he doesn't have very good offensive wrestling and even though he averages a little over 2 takedowns per fight, he has a very low 36% takedown accuracy. He is coming off the sloppy back and forth loss to Renier de Ridder where he was submitted in the 3rd round

Brad Tavares

Brad Tavares is a tried and true entity at 185lbs. He is 15-10 in the UFC and fought pretty much every former and current champion and contender. He is a solid striker with very good takedown defense at 80% and the Haawaaiin fighting spirit. He's not very dangerous but is well rounded and typically durable. Even though he is 37 which for middleweight isn't that bad, he has been through enough battles that his fight age is closer to 45. He is starting to decline but can likely still hang. He is coming off the decision loss to Jun Yong Park where he looked great early, was on his way to a finish, but did fade.
