FanDuel Fights To Target For UFC Vegas 76
Brunno Ferreira

Peaks and valleys, just a series of peaks and valleys. That is about the best descriptor I can think of to describe the feelings of picking fights on daily fantasy sports platforms. After two or three really spot on weeks, last week’s article fell flat on its face. The no contest between Tafa and Lane, the abysmal score from Dumas in a win, and being on the wrong side of the Trevor Peek fight all combined for an embarrassing week for this article. It should have been called ‘Fights To Avoid’ in fact. Time to turn it around though.

This week we are back in the Apex for UFC Vegas 76 to see a main event between the always polarizing Sean Strickland and Abus Magomedov. The undercard on this slate is loaded with some of the most exciting prospects as well, so the week is surely going to be exciting, no matter my FanDuel outcomes.

Below you will see my recommended fights to target on the FanDuel slate for UFC Vegas 76. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to tweet @WeWantPicks on Twitter and they will definitely get back to you ASAP.

FIGHT #1 TO TARGET (-750 FDNGTD)

JOANDERSON BRITO ($23) vs. WESTIN WILSON ($8)

The money line on this fight is Grand Canyon wide with Brito sitting at -1400. That is just insanity, and Brito being the most expensive play on the slate makes him a bit of a tough fighter to fit in as well, but regardless at this type of line you probably need to at least have some type of exposure to him.

Joanderson Brito is very powerful and dynamic when it comes to the stand up and is a more than capable grappler as well. The wrestling is there as well with him getting takedowns in most of his UFC fights that haven’t ended in the early part of round one as well.

Westin Wilson is taking this fight on short notice coming from the regional scene and is very solid when it comes to grappling. The sad reality for Wilson here is that he is a lamb being led to the slaugher most likely. His fight IQ seems to be really solid, but he just don’t have the physical tools and well-rounded game that a fighter would need to compete with Brito in my opinion.

There is no secret here, I am on the same side of this one as the rest of the world. This is a clear Brito play, but I would also like to say that I think there is some merit to potentially fading this fight altogether as well to fit more fighters from the top of the salary groups into your lineup.

FIGHT #2 TO TARGET (-650 FDNGTD)

BRUNNO FERREIRA ($17) vs. NURSULTON RUZIBOEV ($13)

This fight is one of the most interesting fights on the slate for me, mostly because both of these guys are going to be looking to end the other one. Unlike the Brito fight above, this one could probably go in either direction as well. That can make for a very exciting fight, especially when it comes to an Apex slate.

You may remember Brunno Ferreira from his fight where Angelo picked him to win against Gregory Rodrigues. I didn’t buy in then and every single one of my lineups died the second Robocop hit the canvas. I might be buying in this time. Ferreira has power in his hands, tons of willingness to engage, and a solid grappling game as well.

On the other side of the cage, Nursulton Ruziboev is also a certified killer who is capable of ending a fight with his hands, feet, or in a grappling exchange. Ruziboev also has the better wrestling in this matchup. The one very big concern is that his aggressiveness is often out of control and creates openings for his opponent.

I am going to roll with Brunno Ferreria in this one and am expecting a finish on the feet, but I certainly wouldn’t look at anyone funny for throwing Ruziboev in their lineup. This one should be fire for as long as it lasts.

FIGHT #3 TO TARGET (-165 FDNGTD)

ISMAEL BONFIM ($21) vs. BENOIT SAINT-DENIS ($10)

From the first moment that I saw the Bonfim brothers fight I have been firmly in camp fanboy. These guys can crack, and their precision is impressive. That being said, watching the sheer toughness that was on display in Benoit Saint-Denis’ debut in the UFC made me a fan there as well. No matter which way this one goes, I am excited to watch it.

I am personally very high on Ismael Bonfim, and I don’t think that Saint-Denis has the skills to match, but his heart and well-rounded approach might be enough to keep him live here as well. Pick you side and enjoy the fight!
