WHAT IS THE DRAFTKINGS UFC CHEAT SHEET?
The DraftKings Cheat Sheet is intended to be a complete quick reference guide that includes everything you need to make your own DraftKings daily fantasy choices for their UFC contests. The information contained on the cheat sheet includes fighter names, fighter salaries, fantasy score projection, ownership projection, proprietary leverage score, cash contest fighter pool, and GPP contest fighter pool.
DRAFTKINGS UFC FIGHTER NAMES & SALARIES
The first thing you will see on the DraftKings Cheat Sheet is the fighter names and salaries for the current event. This is about as straightforward as it gets, reach out if there is any confusion here.
The list will include the names of each available fighter that you can place into your six man roster. Next to their name will be the salary they are currently listed at for the DraftKings daily fantasy slate. This salary is a dollar value representation about how much they will count against your $50,000 roster salary for the contest you are entering.
DRAFTKINGS UFC SCORING PROJECTIONS
When it comes to DraftKings daily fantasy sports, events are scored with what is known as fantasy points. These points are accrued based on the official DraftKings daily fantasy scoring system, commonly referred to as “fantasy points” by many.
These scoring projections are created using an estimate of what the median winning score will be for the fighter and then is weighted by the implied probability of that fighter winning. For example if a fighter averages 110 points in their wins and is lined at -400 for that fight, the scoring projection would be 88 fantasy points. That is a very simplified version of what goes into creating the scoring projection, but should give you a solid idea of how those numbers are created.
Another common question/comment regarding these numbers is “Why are they so low?” because numerous fighters all score over 100 points on every slate. We have actually had people state they were canceling over these numbers being viewed as inaccurate by them on their exit survey.
The reason these numbers are weighed down with the implied probability of a fighter winning is because the projections are intended to be used with our DraftKings Lineup Optimizer. If you just use the median score a fighter gets in a win with that tool, you would be delivered a lineup with the least expensive fighters possible due to the value score being unrealistically high. You have to provide context to the tool regarding how much value a specific fighter is likely to have, and that is accomplished by weighing down the median score with the implied probability of that fighter actually winning the fight.
DRAFTKINGS UFC OWNERSHIP PROJECTIONS
In the world of DraftKings daily fantasy, there may not be a more important metric than ownership when it comes to building lineups. This is especially true when it comes to large, multiple-entry, tournament contests. Ownership can still be used in other contests as well however, just in a different way.
Ownership projections are our estimate of how many lineups will contain a specific fighter. This estimate is based on the largest tournament available on the slate and the numbers are constantly updating right up until the slate locks. This number will provide you with a basis to find potential leverage spots over the remainder of the field, and give you an idea on how to approach the slate to avoid lineup duplication.
Our ownership projections are quite simply the best in the business. There is no one even close to the consistently accurate projections that we provide. We know that to be a fact because we actually check ourselves against our competitors' numbers every single week and regularly have the projections that are closest to the actual ownership on average across the slate.
DRAFTKINGS UFC LEVERAGE SCORE
The leverage score available on the cheat sheet is a proprietary number available only on We Want Picks. This number signifies how much leverage you can expect to gain, or lose, in relation to the field by rostering a particular fighter in your large tournament lineups.
We don’t want to provide an exact breakdown into how this number is calculated as it is one of the aspects on our cheat sheet that provides our users with a competitive advantage over similar offerings from our competitors. We will however offer you a loose explanation of how that number is calculated. Essentially a low ownership projection and a high score projection equal leverage.
For our system a green, or positive, leverage score is good for your large tournament lineups should that fighter win and meet their scoring projection. A red, or negative, leverage score is not necessarily bad for your lineups – but rather means that you will not be separating yourself from the field with that play. The larger the negative number, the less separation you can expect even if that fighter wins and hits their projected score.
Leverage is a much needed aspect of a DraftKings lineup when entering into the large multiple-entry tournaments, but can be ignored completely for the most part when making a cash contest lineup.
DRAFTKINGS UFC FIGHTER POOLS
Finally, the last thing you will see on the DraftKings UFC Cheat Sheet is our suggested fighter pools. We offer our opinion on whether or not each specific fighter on the slate should be included in your selection process for cash contests and for GPP contests.
This can be exceptionally helpful to avoid rostering extremely risky fighters into your cash lineups and to assist you in avoiding scoring duds for your GPP tournament entries. When it comes to DraftKings you don’t want to lock yourself into particular fighters winning the contest and avoiding their opponent completely unless there is specific game theory involved in that decision. Our suggested fighter pools can assist you with that game theory.
