Doing what we do here with breaking down fights and creating content is interesting because over time you build relationships, good or bad, with fighters and the community. Those relationships can of course build some biases. Luckily for you, fighters like Jacob way more than me. For example, Jarzinho Rozenstruik who joined us for a call in show called me out for not picking him and always uses my audio to troll, Isaac Dulgarian also joined us on a call in show specifically to shit on my criticism of him after his last fight. Adrian Yanez is another fighter who joined the call in show and had some comments for big Ang. I prefaced my pick with that information to ahead ahead of the whole “well Yanez was on their show, so of course he likes Yanez”. But here's the reality of this fight. It will be striking only, i don't imagine either of them will shoot a takedown. Yes, Marcos made Sexi Mexi look dumb and he is undefeated, but we have yet to see him against another high level striker. I think Yanez is faster and has the better hands. Marcos has more diversity in his strikes, but unless he starts working kicks early and takedown attempts, he will end up in a boxing match that he will lose. I am going to Pick Yanez here but I can't bet. There are too many unknowns with just how good Marcos may or may not be.
Daniel Marcos
Daniel Marcos is an effective striker with power and accuracy. He does a nice job stringing together combinations and marching forward. He will throw one twos and follow up with flying knees and elbows. His takedown defense is solid at 87% and with 8KOs and 8 decisions we know he's dangerous but also has the cardio for 3 rounds. He is coming off the destruction of Sexi Mexi where the striking looked great and so did the takedown defense.
Adrian Yanez
Adrian Yanez is a fun technical striker with high striking IQ, fast hands, real power and a solid chin. He can be a slow starter and if you dig into his fight stats he was outsruck in the first round of 4 of his last 6 fights. He has 9 fights in the UFC with 5 fight of the night bonuses and 6 stoppage wins. He has great takedown defense at 100% and zero offensive takedowns so far in the UFC. He shines in technical exchanges and has very clean boxing. He is coming off the first round KO win over a typical durable Vinicius Salvador.
