This is another situation where the pick and the bet are different things. I think Billy can win this fight because he will be a touch faster and have more movement. But even at his advanced age and closing in on needing an AARP card, Cub is tough as hell and can still hang in this division. For pick purposes, which as I have said many times picks and bets are not the same thing, I will lean Billy. But theres 2 bets I am considering and it will come down to the odds. If there is somehow a 1.5 round line here, I think the over is a lock because I think this goes to a decision. That also opens up the possibility for a +3.5 bet on Cub Swanson who can absolutely steal a round if not the entire fight.
Cub Swanson
Cub Swanson, much like Clay Guide who we broke down last week, is a legend and has been a legend for a very long time. He is a creative striker with incredible fight IQ and a ton of fun to watch. He is definitely old and definitely slow but he's still tough. You don't get to legend status without being diverse which means Cub can also wrestle and grapple while averaging one takedown per fight. Cub is the better all around fighter in most matchups but age is bitch. He is coming off the close loss to Andre Fili.
Billy Quarantillo
Billy Quarantillo is a very good grappler with solid striking and incredible aggression. His striking is not technical but his offense is effective with almost 8 signifigant strikes per minute landing. Ultimately Billy has a weird striking style and fantastic BJJ. He has only a 23% takedown accuracy but he does have 10 takedowns in 11 UFC fights. He is coming off the submission loss to Youssef Zalal 2.0
