You may not know this, but this is a rematch. Last year Clay and Chase grappled each other at a Fury grappling match. It was an absolute 1 sided beating. Clay shot a slow takedown, Chase spun behind and quickly went to work before ultimately submitting clay with a calf slicer. Obviously this is a fist fight and not a grappling match, but it doesn't matter. Chase should dominate here. This isn't the 2008 version of Clay Guida that had relentless speed and pressure. This is the 2024 version who is older, slower, and sloppier. Chase is the pick and I have him parlayed with Movsar for a grapplers delight parlay.
Clay Guida
Clay Guida is an absolute legend who is the last of a dying era of fighters. Even at 42 years old with 62 fights he can hang. He sets a relentless pace with both his hands and his wrestling. He doesn't have the best submission defense but he does have a great chin. He is definitely starting to slow down but even a slow 42 year old Clay Guida can outwork a lot of people. He is coming off a fun loss to Joaquim Silva where they exchanged takedowns and sloppy striking.
Chase Hooper
Chase Hooper is a very slick grappler with improving takedowns and striking. It wasn't long ago that his takedowns didn't exist and neither did his striking. But just a few years into his UFC career and he is definitely evolving. He is coming off the win over Viacheslav Borshchev where he dropped him before snatching up a darce. Yes, your ears are working correctly, little Chase Hooper outstruck and dropped the Team Alphamale striking coach.
