Lats week we saw Jordan Vucenic make his UFC debut on short notice and nearly finish Guram. This week we will see Quang Le make his UFC debut on short notice and probably get finished. I see Chris finding range, chopping the legs and being the better fighter everywhere. Contender Series was the appropriate spot for Quang, this is too much, too soon. We don't have odds yet, but unless Gutierrez is -600, I will have some action on him.
Chris Gutierrez
Chris Gutierrez is a good kickboxer with great low kicks and cage control. He has good volume at more than 5 significant strikes landed per minute and solid cardio to keep the pace. There are no secrets as to what his gameplan is. He wants to plot forward with leg kicks to slow you down and then straight punches to try and put you out. He has good takedown defense at 69% which allows him to be loose on his feet. He is coming off the close loss to Song Yadong where he was winning the striking exchanges but was getting taken down
Quang Le
Quang Le is stepping up on very short notice here. He was scheduled to fight on the Contender Series next month, so he was undoubtedly in a training camp, but the 4 fewer weeks of training may matter. Style wise he is striker with a Muay Thai stance. He is light on his toes, has the rolled shoulders and likes to plot forward. He finds his range with kicks and likes to hang on the outside of the pocket. He doesn't have a ton of offensive wrestling but does have slick BJJ if he ends up on the ground. He is a good fighter but not sure if he is UFC ready.
