Bryce Mitchell vs. Jean Silva

MITCHELL VS SILVA

I'm going to pick Jean, but let me rant about all the reason's why you shouldn't… I know the sentiment seems to be that this is an easy win for Jean and that he's one of the best strikers in the division. i also know that Bryce got absolutely wrecked by Josh Emmett. But before you anchor 9 parlays with a guy because he's coming out of the latest cool kid gym, let me remind you that he was taken down 3 times by Charles Jourdain. Sure, he went on to win that fight by KO and showed incredible composure, but Bryce's grappling is different. If he gets you down, he's like a blanket. I'm going to pick Jean here because I think the gap on the feet is wider than the gap on the ground and every punch Jean lands will have Bryce rushing takedowns that won't be well set up. I'm imaging Jean gets taken down early, stays composed and takes over. But again, be careful betting here, he was taken down 3 times by a guy with a 21% takedown accuracy.

Bryce Mitchell

Bryce Mitchell is a dominant wrestler who sticks to a gameplan. He averages over 3 takedowns per fight and just about 2 significant strikes per minute, so basically he is just diving at legs. His striking is awkward but he doesn't even pretend that he wants to strike, he keeps his hands low and starts crotch sniffing from there. If he gets you to the ground, which is almost a guarantee, he doesn't strike, he works for submissions, keeps control and has had some of the most incredible grappling scrambles you'll ever see. He is coming off the dominant win over jiu jitsu nerd Kron Gracie.

Jean Silva

Jean Silva is a powerful striker who is loose and creative. The creativity is fun to watch but does get him into weird positions at times. He is interesting to watch because he will go from a tight guard to loose hands down but he does alternate between the two often enough to get people guessing. He lowers his level to land body shots and then comes up top with power. His takedown defense is somewhat untested but we will learn a lot more after this fight. He is coming off his 4th KO win in a row, this time over Melsik Baghdasaryan.
