Seems like Benoit got a little bit of luck here. He went from fighting a very dangerous Joel Alvarez who is good everywhere, to a regional journeyman who is getting his second crack at the UFC. But it wasn't luck, it Benoit picking and choosing his opponents. When Joel dropped a handful of fighters raised their hands and he turned them all down. While it sucks that us, the fans, didn't get a better fight than Benoit at -1500 it makes sense for him. Why fight Gamrot for the exact same amount of money that you could fight Kyle for and likely get a finish bonus. Benoit is obviously the pick but at these odds, who cares.
Benoit Saint-Denis
Benoit st. Denis is a strong wrestler with well timed shots and a ton of pressure on top. He has a good old fashion lower your level and attack the legs style wrestling which is very effective for him. He has 8 fights in the UFC with 18 takedowns which is incredible considering he has only seen the 3rd round once. When he gets it to the ground he has very good pressure and works to submissions well. He has a ton of power on his feet which makes him dangerous everywhere, but he can be hittable. He is all gas, no breaks but he is coming off back to back finish loses
Kyle Prepolic
Kyle Prepolic is stepping up on short notice and many of you may think he is a UFC debut, but he isn't. He had a crack at the UFC some years ago but no success. Style wise he's a forward pressure guy who will recklessly strike before looking to grapple. He is not particularly technical on the feet but he does have decent takedowns. He is very tough but but not particularly dangerous. He is stepping up on about a week's notice after a decent run on the regional scene.
