Anyone who is going to pick Giles here will defend their position by listing all of the people Giles lost to. Not anyone he beat, just the people he lost to. “oh he looked good before getting KO'd by Prates”. “He lost to Dricus and Michael Morales”. Those are losses. All they prove is that he cannot beat top fighters. Also, don't bother commenting that he beat Roman Dolidze, because he didn't, that was a terrible decision 4 years ago before Roman had cardio. The reality here is that Giles is an athletic dude with a great jab. He also hasn't evolved at all and I am pretty sure he has a full time job. The job is great and this sport doesn't pay enough to quit it, but the point is that this is a short notice step up to get in favor while on a skid. i think Gustafsson can come forward stay in Trevin's face and either land with some power or get the takedowns. I do think Andreas wins, but never would I bet a UFC debut favorite in a spot like this. After all, Trevin did lose to Dricus so he must be good.
Andreas Gustafsson
Andreas Gustafsson is a solid grappler with actual wrestling skills. Like most wrestlers he comes forward, throws a ton of strikes that are designed to back you up to the cage before taking you down and working. When he gets you to the ground he will soften you up with elbows before looking for submissions. Despite being a grappler he has very real power in his hands and is always looking for a finish.
Trevin Giles
Trevin Giles is a very athletic guy with a great jab. He is pretty light on his feet and does a nice job of working in and out of range. He will throw a combination and then step back out of range and reset. Regardless of what the stats say, his wrestling offense is not very good but he does have solid takedown defense at 72% because of his athleticism. He sets a nice pace and pumps his jab well. He is coming off his 3rd loss in a row. most recently a decision to Mike Malott where he defended the takedowns, but was out struck
