I know we are all very high on Carlos Leal right now because he looked great against Rinat and likely was robbed in that fight, but i emplore you to look at it objectively. We had a similar situation with Bassil Haffez not too long ago. He showed up, almost beat JDM and then everyone thought he was the next big thing only for him to barely beat Micky Gall and then get KOd by Oban Elliott. I'm not saying Carlos will be a sell or a fraud, but I am saying he is entirely unproven and be careful before laying out -600 odds. He should win here, Alex is headed down the wash slide but these odds are closing in on crazy.
Alex Morono
With a 100% straight face, I will tell you that Alex Morono is a good fighter who very good skills. He's just wildly inconsistent. He is a well rounded guy with effective striking and incredibly under appreciated grappling. He can get a bit wild and uses his awkward striking well to keep his opponents out of a rhythm. He is a high level blackbelt but doesn't use his wrestling as often as you'd like. He a does however do a nice job working in takedowns when he needs to or is in trouble. He is coming off the split decision loss to Daniel Rodriguez where the counter stiking looked good early, but he made no adjustments.
Carlos Leal
Carlos Leal is only 1 fight into his UFC career but he is a veteran of the sport and has fought all over the world. Style wise he is a dangerous Muay Thai striker who is not afraid to engage. His forward pressure and open hand stance leave him open to leg kicks, but he is durable enough to hang. He has grappling as well, but it is squarely a backup plan. His takedown defense is just ok, but it is mostly strength related. He is coming off what many feel was a robbery against Rinat Fakrhetidinov where he defended 17 takedowns.
