Alexa Grasso vs. Valentina Schevchenko
GRASSO VS SHEVCHENKO

This is a very rare trilogy fight in the women's division. The first time out Alexa shocked the world when she submitted Valentina after being controlled with the wrestling for most of the fight. In the second fight they fought to a very controversial draw where one judge has Grasso, one judge had Valentina and a 3rd judge had a very sketchy 10-8 5th round for Grasso which forced a draw on his scorecard and thats what the entire debate comes down to. People feel Valentina won the fight and that 3rd judge did some last minute Bernie Madoff math to make it work.

I think Alexa wins here. I fully recognize that Valentina has a big wrestling advantage and should've won the last fight, but I also see the improvements on the Alexa side and Valentina isn't getting any younger. If you compare the first 2 fights you can see the improvements on the Alexa side. She was losing the first fight before snatching Valentina's back in a scramble but in the second fight she was winning exchanges, winning minutes, winning full rounds, got her own takedown and even dropped Valentina. The wrestling gap is tightening and the speed gap is widening, i think Alexa gets it done here and i have a half a unit on her at -115.

Alexa Grasso

Alexa Grasso is a fun striker with impressive volume and decent takedown defense at 61%. Alexa stays busy landing almost 5 signifigant strikes per minute and moves really well. She has absolutely no problem slugging it out in the pocket and while she does have power, it is not fight ending power. She is 5-0-1 at 125lbs after moving up from 115 and is defending her belt for the second time.

Valentina Schevchenko

Valentina Schevchenko is one of the best fighters on the planet. regardless of division or gender. She won the belt in 2018 and defended it 7 times before losing it earlier this year. She is a phonemnal striker, very good grappler and has true champion composure and mindset. Her striking is some of the best in any division, she's very tehcnical and has enough power combined with the technique that she is putting people away. These last few years we've seen her game evolve and shes mixing in Judo and trip takedowns very well. She has 29 takedowns in her last 7 fights including 8 against Grasso.
