Before her recent skid Casey O'Neill was a solid prospect. She was a nasty striker who added wrestling to her arsenal. Then her level of competition stepped up and she hasn't been able to answer the call. The decision loss to Jennifer Maia is something I can look past, she hung in the striking, defended takedowns and took a round. But being taken down and submitted by Lipski is a bad look, especially in this matchup. I talk about it all the time, defending judo throws is not the same as defending takedowns against the cage. Luana has all the momentum and swagger you could want from a fighter. Santos is the pick and I have a half of a unit on her at -140.
Casey O'Neill
At her core Casey O'Neil is a Muay Thai striker. She has solid elbows, is very willing to brawl and gets into fire fights. She can wrestle as well with 8 takedowns in the UFC and a 66% takedown defense. She has incredible volume at almost 9 significant strikes landed per minute, but she does get hit as well giving up over 200 significant strikes in her last 2 fights. She is coming off her second loss in a row, this time to Ariane Lipski where she was submitted in the second round.
Luana Santos
Luana Santos is a very slick grappler who has both traditional takedowns and Judo throws that she uses to get fights to the ground. On the ground she is patient on top and does an amazing job of maintaining her positions after getting takedowns. She doesn't have the best striking but we did just see some big power from her. She relies very heavily on Judo throws but she has no problem getting into a slug fight. She is coming off the dominant win over Mariya Agapova
