We found out about this fight on Twitter where Darius basically complained that he was stepping up on short notice at elevation. His tweet didn't read like someone who was excited to get a fight, it read like someone who was laying out the excuses ahead of time and trying to do the UFC a favor for an extended contract. Darrius is a powerful guy who will rush forward and Evan can be hittable, but I see Evan winning here. He has the cardio, has the speed, has the power and should be able to get the short notice win. This is elevation though and for a few minutes Darrius is unpredictable, so I would be careful at the current price tag and would watch the line to see if there's better value later.
Evan Elder
Evan Elder is a talented guy who is good everywhere. He has a loose striking style where he lands heavy leg kicks and solid punching combinations. He has nice takedowns as well that I do wish he used a little more. When he hits the mat he stays very composed and will methodically work for control while still managing to land strikes. He has solid submission defense which he showcased in his loss to Preston Parsons. He is coming off the win over Genaro Valdez where we saw his speed and power.
Darrius Flowers
Darius Flowers is an in your face fighter who has a high tight guard that he uses to march forward with and bomb away. He will throw heavy punches and then work in slam style takedowns. He is incredibly dangerous but can also be a little sloppy because he chases and works so fast. He can be a bit wild and set a crazy pace but he also has solid BJJ that he uses when the pace slows. He is coming off a decision loss to Michael Johnson back in February.
