Even after the railroading of Kelvin that I just spewed, I am going to pick him to win. His granite chin and offensive wrestling should be enough to get it done. He should be able to throw big and shoot takedowns. Daniel will be the more technical striker, but it will be like boxing a stop sign, it doesn't matter how hard you hit it, it will still be standing there. Kelvin is the pick, but I think at this point he has proven to every single of us that we cannot trust him with our money.
Kelvin Gastelum
Kelvin Gastelum might be an all time waste of talent. He is a great wrestler, a very good striker, has a granite chin and is capable of being in an absolute dog fight. The problem is he never really had any of the work ethic. He has missed weight multiple times, bounces between weight classes and almost seems to not care. About 2 years ago he linked up with Henry Cejudo, dropped to welterweight and it felt like things were turning around for Kelvin and he was about to be a force at 170. But he just laid an egg against Sean Brady and was completely out grappled.
Daniel Rodriguez
Daniel Rodriguez is a very good boxer who picks his shots well. He has good takedown defense but not much to offer in the grappling department. His boxing is crisp and when he isn't worried about the takedowns his hands are deadly and he hits a rhythm, when he is worried about the takedowns he can fade later in the fight. He hasn't looked very good in his last 2 fights, but he is still a dangerous guy. He is coming off the head kick KO loss to Ian Garry where he seemed to struggle with the reach.
