This is a fun matchup between two aging vets. They are actually very similar in style with both of them having above average striking, above average power and below average wrestling. Alonzo is certainly the more powerful guy with Volkan being cleaner and having better cardio. I'll be rooting for Alonzo here but the pick will be Volkan. The leg kicks he had in the Ulberg fight combined with the stalking pressure will work well for him here. Alonzo loses his power backing up and as long as Volkan keeps the chin tucked, he should win a decision here.

Volkan Oezdemir

Volkan Oezdemir is a forward pressure striker with power and volume. He throws his hands hard and throws them often. Volkan has a miserable takedown accuracy at only 29% which can be an issue because if he is losing the striking exchanges, his chin can't keep him in the fight and neither can the wrestling. He is 7-8 in the UFC with a mixed bag of competition but one thing is for sure and its that all of his losses are to quality people like Jiri, Cormier, Ankalaev and most recently Carlos Ulberg where the kicks looked good early.

Alonzo Menifield

Alonzo Menifield has great power, typically great takedown defense and is always looking to take your head off with each punch. His striking can be wild and sloppy, but the power is undeniable. When Alonzo is coming forward and being the aggressor, he is a very dangerous guy but you can't always trust his decision making and oddly timed takedown attempts. He is coming off the fraud check win over Omar Sy.
