Vitor Petrino vs. Thomas Petersen

PETRINO VS PETERSEN

Yes Vitor Petrino just beat the shit out of Austin Lane in his heavyweight debut, but I still don't know if he is any good. He caught a kick and then dominated a non-UFC level guy. While Thomas Petersen isn't going to fight for a title anytime soon, he is a tough kid who can grind out a win. He is also full time mechanic and part time fighter. That is absolutely the right decision to make at this point in his career. being a UFC fighter at that level does not pay well and if you have a family and people depending on you you can't get by on a 10/10 contract fighting maybe 3 times a year. So while Thomas is doing the right thing for his family, being a part time fighter against someone like Petrino who is a high level athlete and training with some of the best people in the world isn't a recipe for success. I think vitor is better everywhere except pure American grit and toughness. I think he gets Thomas out of there early, but if he doesn't it's going to be a tough night because a corn fed midwest mechanic, doesn't have any quit in him. Petrino is the pick, still deciding if i bet him here.

Vitor Petrino

Vitor Petrino is a powerful guy with a solid left hook. He is a dangerous striker who has grappling as well. He has 17 takedowns in the UFC. His takedown defense is just ok, but he does a nice job working his way up and avoiding danger. He is very green still but is evolving as a fighter and learning more every time he steps in the cage. He is coming off a TKO win in his heavyweight debut where he caught Austin Lane's kick and took over.

Thomas Petersen

Thomas Peterson is a solid wrestler who will work everything from bear hugs to doubles. His striking isn't great, but he will close the gap with straight punches while marching forward and then when he gets you against the cage, he will be busy in the clinch. If Petersen can't take his opponent down, he is trouble. But if he can, he has great control and ground and pound. He is coming off the 9 takedown win over Don'Tale Mayes.
