You people, the Tapology people, have overwhelmingly voted that Guiherme Pat wins here. 83% of you are planting your flags and I assume that 83% has just decided that Thomas sucks and picked from there. While there may be some truth to Thomas sucking, the reality is that he can wrestle and that might be all he needs to do here. Guilherme's takedown defense isn't very good and if Peterson can just bulldoze his way forward, like he did against Don'tale Mayes, this is a win for him. The issue however is that Pat isn't Don'tale and has good footwork so Thomas is going to need to corner him first. I'm going to take a shot in the dark here and pick the slight dog in Thomas. He's a simple man, with a simple life and a simple game plan, and frankly, he should keep it that way. Move forward, don't get knocked out and get get takedowns.
Thomas Petersen
Thomas Peterson is a solid wrestler who will work everything from bear hugs to doubles. His striking isn't great, but he will close the gap with straight punches while marching forward and then when he gets you against the cage, he will be busy in the clinch. If Petersen can't take his opponent down, he is trouble. But if he can, he has pretty good control and ground and pound. He is coming off the knockout loss to Vitor Petrino.
Guilherme Pat
Guilherme Pat is fast, jacked and a solid striker. He has a wide karate style stance and is constantly bouncing on his toes before he leaps into his strikes. It's not a style you typically see with heavyweights but it is working for him so far. His ability to bounce in, strike, then bounce back out is impressive. His takedown defense however is not impressive. Neither is his sense of urgency. While you will get flashes of activity from him, he is also perfectly fine being held against the cage. He is coming off the decision win over Allen Fry where he doubled the strikes.
