David Onama is the faster, more technically sound striker in this matchup. But he doesn't fight as well moving forward as he does backing up and Steve Garcia's forward pressure combined with his awkward style and size will make this a really tough fight for Onama. People want to make fun of this card, but this is a fantastic main event that can go many different directions. Garcia is the pick but let's wait for the round lines before we commit to anything.
Steve Garcia
Steve Garcia has made a name for himself with his boxing and is on an incredible 6 fight KO streak with 5 KOs. He likes to come forward with big strikes that either put you away, or setup takedowns. His striking is very solid, he has nice movement, big power and decent speed. He isn't afraid to mix it up but he can get himself into trouble by being too aggressive. He can grapple as well, but we haven't see much of it because of his finishing abilities. He is very big for this weight class and his awkward style makes him hard for people to read.
David Onama
David Onama is a kickboxer who likes to plot forward and control the pace. Typically he isn't incredibly high volume, but he is effective. He has a very long jab that he is constantly throwing out there. He is busy in the clinch where he throws knees and elbows. He has a low 30% takedown accuracy and a 52% takedown defense but he did just get 3 takedowns in his decision win over Giga Chikaze.
