Shem Rock vs. Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady Pick, Prediction and Bets

ROCK VA ALSELWADY

Both of these guys are coming off losses in their UFC debuts, but they were very different. Shem looked clueless with no ability to strike, wrestle or grapple while Abdul was wild. Sure he got finished in his loss, but he was moving forward, landing clean and getting takedowns before being clipped. The pick will be Abdul here, if Shem has the same tentative demeanor he had in his last fight, then Abdul's chaos will run right through him and these odds will look like a gift.

Shem Rock

Shem Rock is a long lean grappler who does an amazing job transitioning from wrestling to jiu jitsu. He doesn't shoot a takedown then look for control. He shoots a takedown and while he is running it, he's looking to advance his position. He isn't just a desperate grappler, he will use his range and his southpaw stance to throw out teap kicks and manage distance. I wouldn't say his striking is good, but its serviceable and he uses it to setup his grappling. He is coming off a horrendous performance in his UFC debut where he didn't have striking or takedowns.

Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady

Abdul-Kareem Al-Sewady is a forward pressure striker who never sits still and is constantly working on fast twitch actions. He has a low stance where he ducks his chin and pumps out faints. He likes to close the distance and then fire overhand rights. While he has plenty of movement and faints, he is actually hit very often. His takedown defense is solid but mostly based in speed more than technique. What he does really well is work in offensive takedowns. He's so dangerous on his feet that everyone is worried about strikes coming their way that they don't even consider that he might shoot a takedown. He is coming off a UFC debut loss to Loik Radzhabov where he was winning the fight with wild striking and wrestling before he got too crazy in the 3rd where he was dropped and finished.
