Sean Sharaf vs. Steven Asplund

SHARAF VS ASPLUND

If you guys watch my breakdowns then you know my cadence. I talk about fighter A, then I talk about fighter B, then I talk about the matchup and make the pick. When doing my notes I typically look back to my previous notes and make adjustments. That was a little trickier than usual this time because my previous notes for Sean Sharaf just said “lol”. This guy stinks and is not UFC level. I have to pick Steven Asplund here, but he too may stink. Of course he has very good cardio for a man his size, but he keeps his chin up and can't defend takedowns. Just being able to chew gum and walk at the same time should get him through this fight so he is the pick.

Sean Sharaf

Sean Sharaf is an incredibly heavy handed striker. He only has 4 pro MMA wins and all of them are KOs. He is not the most technical striker but he is absolutely a powerful one. He throws everything with intent and if decide to engage in a brawl, you will likely lose. He is a former marine with a never say die attitude and a determination to keep the 100% finish rate. The problem is that the finish rate now exists on both sides when he was KO'd by the terrible Junior Tafa.

Steven Asplund

Steven Asplund is a massive guy who used to be even more massive. Similar to Volk going from 214lbs to 145, Asplund went from 500lbs to 261. Obviously there are a few different ways to lose that weight, you could get lap band surgery, you could get the shot or you can do it the old fashioned way. Asplund did it in a way where he has fantastic output and cardio for a guy who has a queen's sheet set of extra skin. Style wise, he has a decent jab and good striking volume. He is pretty durable but can be taken down. He is winning fights of will power and cardio.
