Rei at -600 makes me a little nervous but he should be able to get it done. The reality is that Kevin can be taken down and Rei can do the taking of the downs. But if you run through Kevin's fight history, he has more than one fight where he was outwrestled and still won. His Contender Series fight is a perfect example, he gave up 5 takedowns and 8 minutes of control but still won because of his volume striking. The good news for anyone looking to bet on Rei, I genuinely think he wins and I also think we will have a commission from the good old days where wrestling actually matters. Rei is the pick, fairly confident there.
Rei Tsuruya
Rei Tsuruya is a nasty grappler with decent hands. His takedowns are slick and big. He will take your back standing, pick you up and slam you to the ground. He will instantly transition to ground and pound and look for the finish. He has plenty of cardio, plenty of composure and is a guy that can really make something happen if he improves his striking and the striking looked improved in his last fight where he dropped Luis Gurule then took him down and submitted him.
Kevin Borjas
Kevin Borjas is a very fast and clean striker who has one punch KO power. The speed from his hands is impressive as are the combinations. He has an interesting stance where he protects his chin but is always leaning forward which removes any reach advantage he may have. His takedown defense is not great, but his get up game is. He will occasionally work in an offensive takedown but most times doesn't need to. He is coming off the underdog win over Andre Lima.
