We are heading back to the Apex for a fun fight card headlined by Aljamain Serling and Youssef Zalal. We have a few important fights for the movement of a couple different divisions, some fun fighters who always look for a finish, but the big fight is the main event as the winner could very well be the next in line after Evloev to challenge Volk for the title.
For anyone who hasn’t read this article before, this series will be released every week on Thursday and will cover the slate by isolating the fighters that I like within the various salary groups. $9,000+ PRICE POINT
Michelle Montague
Bueno Silva has looked pretty damn awful her last 4 fights, and gets to face undefeated Michelle Montague here who will pressure with takedowns nonstop and is good at keeping control once she gets you down. She got 5 takedowns in her UFC debut and had almost 12 minutes of control time. I think we see another similar stat line here.
Rodolfo Vieira
I don’t particularly trust either Vieira or Polastri to round out the 9K range, but I trust Vieira much more. McConico looked good for about 3.5 minutes in his last fight before getting finished, and I think Vieira should have the power advantage here, and also the grappling advantage.
$8,000 – $8,900 PRICE POINT
Norma Dumont
She won a close decision last time out because the judges valued damage over takedowns and laying on top doing nothing, but she has better striking and I think will be able to piece Joselyne up if she can avoid being taken down.
Montel Jackson
It seems like Raoni is getting some love from the public because of him beating guys like Peyton Talbott on the road here, but Montel is a different animal. He is bigger, significantly longer reach, more powerful, a better wrestler, and I think we will see him just beat the shit out of Raoni en route to a finish and score 100+. Averages 50 strikes, 3 takedowns per fight, and is coming off a loss to Figueredo so I think we see him take out the frustration of that here. Averages 89 DK points including the losses where he scored awful.
Juan Adrian Martinetti
Juan will be the busier fighter on the feet, and Grant is 40 now so usually a 10 year age gap you see the younger guy win like 70% of the time. I think with the reach advantage, the wrestling advantage, you just kind of expect him to find a way to get Davey out of here and get a win inside the distance.
Under $8,000 PRICE POINT
Ryan Spann
Spann being the underdog is weird here, because Buchecha is not great and Spann has beaten a few good fighters. If Spann can stay away from being taken down, I think Superman fights a finish here himself via KO or club and sub. I think we see a nice score here.
Aljamain Sterling
Former champ getting the younger guy on the rise in Zalal who has won his last 5 fights including a submission win over Emmett last fight where he threw 0 strikes. Sterling will get shit because he did not finish Ortega, however he 100% dominated that fight and fucked up his elbow with a spinning back elbow he threw in the later rounds. He will have better wrestling, fairly even striking, and I think the fact that he went toe to toe with Evloev will show the different levels of grappling between these two en route to a win.
Rafa Garcia
This is a pretty even fight on paper, they literally both average 4.31 significant strikes per minute, both are 4-1 in their last 5, both carry roughly a 75% takedown defense, but Rafa averages more takedowns and submission attempts. When everything looks this close, I will lean with the underdog to pull it off and get us the upset you need for your DK lineups.
