Price Point Picks: UFC 330

Best DraftKings DFS plays for UFC 330

We are heading into UFC 330 with two championship fights on the card, and other than those two it should be a bunch of fights where we see some finishes. I believe those are the only two fights with ranked opponents on the entire card, but we will get to see some fun fire fights along the way and then see how much Ian Garry’s takedown defense and scrambling he has been working on when he goes against Islam here.

For anyone who hasn’t read this article before, this series will be released every week on Thursday and will cover the slate by isolating the fighters that I like within the various salary groups. $9,000+ PRICE POINT

Myktybek Orolbai

Poor Wells here, because Orolbai is going to just pressure, wrestle, and smother him the entire fight. He averages 3 takedowns per round, and has power in his hands. He also is 11 years younger, even though he looks 11 years older…but I think we see him just bully Jeremiah all night en route to a finish or a super dominant decision win where he has 10 takedowns and 13 minutes of control time and scores 150+

Esteban Ribovics

Ribovics is an all action pressure striker who averages almost 7.5 significant strikes per minute, and finally is taking on someone who sets up well for him to dominate. He is 10 years younger, going against the 40 year old Barboza, and should be able to work in enough damage to find a finish here.

Islam Makhachev

I am on the record for not liking Islam very much, I think he is pretty inactive as a champ and has not fought the toughest opponents in his previous division besides Charles. Ian is a big tall rangy fighter who will have a reach and height advantage, but we know once Islam gets ahold of him, there is just no way he can stop the inevitable crushing submission or ground and pound TKO that is coming. I would love for Garry to knock him out, but the probability is low and I am going to use Islam for DFS because he scores 100+ in his wins.

$8,000 – $8,900 PRICE POINT

Joel Alvarez

I think after being just dominated with wrestling in his last fight out, Joel is going to come out with a vengeance and fights Chidi who is always super slow and methodical. I think we will see Alvarez lay it on him, look for a big finish, and use his speed and power to knock Chidi into the shadow realm.

Jalin Turner

This is a matchup of two very good fighters, both who will push the pace on the feet and try to find finishes. Turner is the more explosive fighter who has real quick bonus finish ability, and has 4 inches in reach and 6 inches in height, and being southpaw that should help set up some nasty kicks (I.E. Dan hooker fight) and with someone who averages almost 6 significant strikes per minute I think I am leaning on the Turner side to find a finish here.

Ramiz Brahimaj

Magny is the one true gate keeper of the division who just never stops fighting, and always has such a crazy reach advantage. I think we will see Ramiz snatch his neck here and jump gilly and either finish it that route or transition on the ground to a different submission and finish Neil inside the distance.

Under $8,000 PRICE POINT

Eric McConico

I don’t think either of these two are particularly overly impressive, but Donte showed he is still very green and has a lot to learn even if he is undefeated. McConico will have to bite down on his mouth piece and not give up, but overall he is the better MMA fighter, he just will have to navigate the waters carefully.

Gillian Robertson

Dern is the champ for a reason, but I think this fight will end up having a lot of scrambles and reversals and Gillian has shown she can find a finish quickly once she has top control, so if Dern gets a little sloppy here there can be real problems from it.

Charles Johnson

He gets the gift of a kid on 4 days notice, and while the line will open as semi close for betting odds this will keep him from being 60-80% owned and probably be in the 40-50% range. If you do pick him, make sure you aren’t following the ownership plays on every other pick and get a little weird.
