Before I did the research I saw the community pick and 90% of you people picked Rahiki. So when i went to the tape study you can only imagine my surprise when i found out that Ollie is actually pretty good. I don't think you guys actually watch tape. i think you make a snap decision and run with it. Because no one watching tape could leave that with any real confidence here. When i do tape study on a new fighter i like to watch the losses and in Ollie's loss to Dimps Gillie, he actually had a good showing and took that first round with a well timed takedown and creative striking. The issue in that fight was power and pressure. You could argue Rahiki has both of those things as well, but Rahiki has no defense standing or wrestling. I think Ollie, assuming he is in shape, can control the striker and shoot takedowns under Rahiki's pressure. I actually like Ollie here and think Marwan's record is a bit fraudulent.
Marwan Rahiki
Marwan Rahiki is a flashy striker who has no problem throwing every imaginable spinning attack. He is fast powerful and very long. He doesn't really manage range because he is typically all gas moving forward. If he backs you up against the cage you can expect an insane flurry of strikes. His takedown defense is just ok, but he scrambles well back to his feet. He can be hit though and we saw that both in his Contender Series fight and his UFC debut against Harry Hardwick where be broke his jaw, but absorbed 65 strikes in 2 rounds.
Ollie Schmid
Ollie Schmid is a powerful and mobile striker who moves from side to side while trying to land power. He has long rangy kicks and a powerful right hand. He has no problem mixing in spin attacks or a takedown. He is hit quite a bit and does wear damage, but has a good chin. He is a City Kickboxing guy so you know he is very large for his weight class and well trained. He is a good fighter who is dangerous both on the feet and ground, but at just 23 years old, he is still putting things together, like how to deal with pressure.
