Any time we get a professional kickboxer make the jump to MMA the biggest question is “what does their takedown defense look like?”. And in this case, i don't know. I have no clue. I spent a ton of time digging through her fight tape and finding real takedown attempts is essentially impossible. When i saw she had a loss on her record, i raced to it because I figured she must've been out grappled right? No, she lost a striking match by someone a little faster and busier. I can make some assumptions though and assume that because Marina's knees are so incredible and because she has great clinch work, she should have at least serviceable takedown defense. If her takedown defense stands up at all, she should win, because the gap on the feet will be insanely wide. So i'll pick the nasty striker to beat the grappler, but maybe we wait and see this fight before we decide if Marina is any good or not.

If she gets you to the ground she will camp out and rack up control time while staying safe and occasionally working in some elbows.
