I am surprised these odds are close. I think Rodrigo runs through Kangjie. I think he overwhelms him on the feet, overwhelms him on the ground and dominates this fight start to finish. Kangje's takedown defense is not good enough to deal with the pressure or variety of Vera's wrestling and on the ground he will be too worried about the strikes reigning down to actually create space and get out.
Kangjie Zhu
Kangjie Zhu is a very powerful striker. What he lacks in volume, he makes up for with raw power. He is very tense and is ready to throw at any moment but waits for the perfect opportunity. He has solid kickboxing and does a great job setting up his kicks with his hands. His takedown defense is just ok, but if he is taken down, he doesn't settle in and is looking for a way back up. When he throws he throws with power and is constantly looking for a finish. He is coming off a decision win ob Bn Xi to win the Road to the UFC tournament.
Rodrigo Vera
Rodrigo Vera is a very aggressive fighter who has no problem slugging it out or pushing a grappling gameplan. When he is striking he is throwing with raw power and at an incredible pace, but not exactly keeping things tight or worrying about footwork. When he's grappling, he's shooting real takedowns or throwing his opponents to the ground before hammering away. He has incredible clinch work with massive knees and elbows and great top pressure on the ground. he is a very real prospect and an exciting addition to the card.
