The opening odds for this fight were -700 for Joanderson and thats because people saw it was an unknown kid making his ufc debut against a killer. Then people did 4 minutes of tape study and realized this is a tougher fight than expected and the line very quickly was cut by more than half. Isaac is good and very active both in his career and in the cage. i do think that Joanderson is too much too soon, but Isaac isn't a bum. I see Joanderson throwing wild, Isaac shooting a takedown, but then Joanderson taking over on the ground. Nice short notice step up with a solid performance might earn the Australian an undercard shot at UFC 325.
Joanderson Brito
Joanderson Brito is a fast and athletic grappler with solid top pressure and a wide array of submissions. His striking isn't very technical but he will come forward and throw bombs. Big wide punches and heavy kicks with almost no regard for what comes back his way. But even though he is comfortable striking, he will look to get it to the ground and work from there. He averages almost 3 takedowns per fight but he can be taken down if you pressure him. That was never more evident than in his last fight where he was held down by Pat Sabatini for 14 minutes.
Isaac Thomson
Isaac Thomson is stepping up on very short notice but he did just fight a month ago so let's assume he is at least kind of fight ready. If we assume he is in shape then we can break down his skills. Style wise he is incredible well rounded. He is a fluid striker who does an incredible job jumping into the pocket and then jumping out after he lands what he needs to. He will shoot beautiful doubles and then take chances on the ground looking for submissions. His offensive wrestling and BJJ are impressive, but he can definitely be taken down.
