I saw this matchup and figured the UFC was trying to get Xiong a win at home because Polastri isn't anything special and has an upside down record in the UFC. The I did the tape study and unfortunately I don't think will be the coming out party they are hoping for. Julia should be able to keep up the volume and overwhelm Jingnan almost the same way Angela Hill did. If Julia was chinny then I could make the argument on the other side, but she's pretty durable. Julia probably wins a decision here, but neither woman is very good.

Jingnan Xiong

Jingnan Xiong is the former One FC world champion she is an insanely powerful striker who literally just moves forward and throws. Her power is wildly impressive for her size and she has 10 KO wins which would have you assume that she has clean technique, but she really doesn't. She's looping and wild, she's also very hittable, but she's incredibly tough and incredibly dangerous. She can grapple as well, but it is squarely a backup plan. She is coming off the one sided beating by Angela Hill in her UFC debut.

Julia Polastri

Julia Polastri is a very well rounded fighter who has slick striking and solid grappling. Her striking technique is clean with plenty of straight punches and kicks. She has power for the division but doesn't chase. She does get taken down pretty easily but when she is on the ground she has solid BJJ and will hunt for submissions. She is coming off the decision loss to Talita Alencar where she had the striking but was taken down 3 times.
