This breakdown could literally just be me saying that Malkoun couldn’t even finish Gerald Mearschart and then ask you what the hell he can do against Vagaev. But i don’t even need to MMA math my way through this, I can just point out the fact that Malkoun’s takedown defense isn’t very good and Vagaev is the better wrestler. Jacob Malkoun

Jacob Malkoun is a grappler who likes to plot forward and throw everything with power. He is a capable wrestler who lowers his level and times his shots well, most of his shots are clean and are in the middle of the cage which works well for him. He averages almost 6 takedowns per fight which does highlight that he has no control at all. Jacob isn’t typically dangerous and can be taken down hiself. He is coming off the decision win over Gerald Mearschaert.

Abubakar Vagaev

Abubakar Vagaev is a very active wrestler who will bait you into a striking match and then immediately lower his level and shoot takedowns. When he gets you to the ground he is very active and actively looking for a TKO instead of submission. While he is a very good wrestler, it doesn’t mean he can’t strike. He does a great job using all of his tools on his feet and he throws with intent. He is a somewhat technical, but mostly volume and power. He is coming off a decision win in his UFC debut where he shot instantly and gave Khamzat vibes.
