Don't do MMA math here, because you might end up in an inception style mind pretzel. Donte just beat Cody Brundage, but most people think he lost in that fight and while Eric also beat Cody, people also think he lost that fight, but Eric at least dropped Cody. Trying to make sense of who might've beaten Cody worse is wasted effort because neither one looked good. So lets move past that fight and look at the rest of their careers… Also, neither one has looked good. Sure Donte finished SD, but SD stinks and Donte spent the entire first round in a cradle. Eric has a decent win in his last fight, but he outboxed a jiu jitsu guy. Neither one of these guys has really shown their full potential, but I do think at full potential, Donte is probably the better fighter. He certainly has more power and I think he has a solid performance here.

Donte Johnson

Donte Johnson is an exciting fighter with solid striking. He does a great job jumping in and out of the pocket to land but avoid what comes back. He also does a great job throwing in volume. When he engages, he puts up numbers and can overwealm people. He is a little twitchy but he's confident and can find finishes. He is a fast, athletic guy with monster slams who is very early in his career and evolving at a quick pace. He is coming off the underwealmng win over Cody Brundage where his striking was ok, but he was taken down a handful of times.

Eric McConico

Eric McConico is a solid grappler who is comfortable striking, but ultimately looking to close the distance and grind fights to the ground. Even though he wants fights on the ground, he doesn't always force them there. Many times he will wait to catch a kick or sneak in a trip without rushing and shooting. When fights do get to the ground Eric does a nice job passing through positions and finding control before working to submissions. He is coming off the decision win over Rodofo Viera where he he was taken down, had a few takedowns of his own, controlled the striking, but was dropped.
