I thought Diego Lopes was going to beat Alexander Volkanovski and for a minute there, it looked pretty good when he had Volk almost out on his feet. But then it all came crashing down Volk survived and Diego couldn't keep up. The biggest issue with Diego is that while he has big power and speed, he isn't very technical and doesn't have good enough wrestling to get his opponents thinking. I expect Diego to hang tough as he is very durable, but I also expect him to get battered on his feet and then not have good enough wrestling to change his circumstances. Jean is the pick and I don't imagine many people will disagree.
Diego Lopes
Diego Lopes is a dangerous grappler who is also service as coach some of the better fighters in Mexico. While he doesn't have the best takedowns or takedown defense, his BJJ is very dangerous as are his hands. He is a well rounded guy who also likes to throw heavy power shots and chase finishes. His striking can get wild but he keeps things in combinations and likes to methodically work forward until he has the opportunity to uncork. He is coming off the title fight loss to Alexander Volkanovski where he nearly got it done in the 2nd.
David Martinez
Jean Silva is a powerful striker who is loose and creative. The creativity is fun to watch but does get him into weird positions at times. He is interesting to watch because he will go from a tight guard to loose hands down but he does alternate between the two often enough to get people guessing. He lowers his level to land body shots and then comes up top with power. His takedown defense is somewhat untested but he did just depend 13 Bryce Mitchell attempts in his dominant win at UFC 314.
