Charles Oliveira vs. Mateusz Gamrot

OLIVEIRA VS GAMROT

We have a last minute fight change here and unfortunately for Charles, I think it is for the worse. At least vs Fiziev it was striker vs striker and Oliveira had a tremendous grappling advantage. vs Gamrot we could very well see a fight Oliveira is on his back for 25 minutes. Essentially a longer version of his fight with Arman where there were a couple scary minutes but for the most part he was ridden out. I fully understand how loved Charles is. When I was at UFC 317, he pop he got was insane. That love, that energy is infectious and i have no doubt that this will be a very intimidating situation for Gamrot, but i don't think it affects the outcome. Charles doesn't have Dan Hooker's takedown defense and I think he ends up on his back. Gamrot is the pick and i threw a half of a unit on him at -120 before that line takes off.

Charles Oliveira

Charles Oliveira is one of the most well rounded and talented guy in the UFC. He has incredible kickboxing skills with laser accuracy, his kicks are deadly and he throws to your legs, your body and your head. He averages over 2 takedowns per 15 minutes and has some of the most practical BJJ in the UFC. What really separates him from the rest of the division is his ability to snap up a submission in any scramble which is reflected in the record books because he has the most amount of submission wins in UFC history. He is also massive for this weight class and uses that size to own the clinch. He is coming off the KO loss to Ilia Topuria.

Mateusz Gamrot

Mateusz Gamrot is a nasty wrestler with decent striking and a diverse set of attacks. He doesn't have incredible power on his feet, but he's busy and and pushes a pace. Gamrot can out wrestle pretty much everyone in the division with his relentless pace and non stop takedown attempts. Unfortunately he is very chinny, even though his striking technique is there, his chin is not. He has been dropped in 6 of his 11 UFC fights but did avoid trouble in his recent win over Ludovit Klein.
