MMA is crazy. If this fight was just 2 years ago, it would be a fight night main event of PPV featured fight because Chito was a bankable star who people rallied behind. Then a couple of do nothing fights later and he’s relegated to the prelims. While Chito is on a 4 fight skid, it is a bit unfair to say he sucks and then move on. His losses are to 2 world champions, a top 5 guy and a young prospect. The biggest issue for Chito now and in every other fight is his unwillingness to throw. He sits, he waits, he loses minutes and then he pours it on in round 3. I really want to pick Chito here. I think he’s the better fighter. I think he is more technical, hits harder and is more durable. He’s just so unreliable that its impossible to pick him as a dog or a favorite with any level of confidence. Charles Jourdain is good but I’d argue his wins aren’t. Chito has beaten 3 former world champions, Charles doesn’t hve a single win over a top 15 guy. There are levels to this and I think Chito is a level above, but damnit is he untrustworthy and a 4 fight skid makes that even more scary.
Charles Jourdain
Charles Jourdain is a fun come forward striker. He’s pretty fast, has great timing and is willing to take chances with spinning and flying attacks. He is not the most technical guy in the world, but he is one of the more exciting ones. He is an absolute dog who will keep fights ugly and in your face. He is coming off the buys win over Kyler Philips where despite being taken down 7 times, he landed more strikes.
Marlon Vera
Marlon “Chito” Vera is a Muay Thai striker who likes to fight ugly. He does a great job using all of his tools for a pretty versatile attack style. While he doesn’t wrestle often, he is a submission threat if it gets to the ground. He does have a negative striking differential and is hittable but he has so much power and such a great chin that even when he is completely out struck his opponents’ faces look like they have been through hell. He is coming off his 4th decision loss in a row where he didn’t have enough volume to keep it compedetive.
