I wish this fight was a few years ago so I could put my life savings on Dariush. When I tell you that he is the best scrambler this division has ever had, I am saying that with 100% conviction. Go back and watch the Gamrot fight. His ability to scramble out of deep entries is insane. With BSD being as hittable as he is and as wrestle heavy as he is, it's not insane that Beneil out scrambles him, ends up on top and then puts him away similarly to how Renato did at UFC Paris last year. The problem is, this version of Dariush, the one that i bet on to beat Moicano and did, is sloppy. He is starting to look age, he is starting to slow down, breath heavy lose his chin and unfortunately end up a step behind. At one point in time you could argue Dariush was the best lightweight on the planet, but Father Time comes for everyone and I think Benoit's relentless pressure will simply be too much here.
Beneil Dariush
Beneil Dariush is very good everywhere with great power and control. He averages almost 2 takedowns per fight and is a no-gi BJJ world champion. We have seen him beat people with grappling, like Tony Ferguson and DIego Ferreira as well as striking like Scott Holtzman and James Vick. He is one of the best scramblers this division has ever had, but is starting to age out. He is coming off the sloppy win over Renato Moicano.
Benoit Saint-Denis
Benoit St. Denis is a strong wrestler with well timed shots and a ton of pressure on top. He has 10 fights in the UFC with 24 takedowns which is impressive considering he has only seen the 3rd round once. When he gets it to the ground he has very good pressure and works to submissions well. He has a ton of power on his feet which makes him dangerous everywhere, but he can be hittable. He is all gas, no breaks and has no quit in him. He is coming off the underdog win over Mauricio Ruffy where he was hittable, but the nonstop wrestling was enough to get it done.
