It was very clear from his last fight that Anthony Wint has a long way to go, but thats what the UFC is doing here. They are building him up and giving what I feel are appropriate matchups. Lucas may actually be a step down from Anthony last opponent, I think he is too hesitant and before he even tries that long jab, Anthony will have shot through him and already on top reigning down. My only concern here isn’t even a Sean Sharaf style KO, my concern is cardio. If Armand weathers a storm and we hit the 2nd or 3rd round, what if Wint doesn’t get the takedowns? We don’t have odds yet so i have no idea if theres any value here, but I think Wint wins and I probably put his ceiling for a bet here at -300.

Anthony Wint

Anthony Wint fights exactly how you think he would based off how he looks. He is big, strong, fast and aggressive. He is a former NFL linebacker who seems very comfortable in the cage. He has no problem swinging for the fences and looking to take your head off. The power and speed at this weight are very impressive as is his composure. Sure, he will swing wild looking for the KO, but he will also set things up and take his time if he ends up grappling. He has solid takedowns where he lowers his level and actually shots and then on the ground settles into position before unloading. He is coming off his first UFC win where he was in a bad kimura and just willed his way out of it.

Lucas Armand

Lucas Armand is a striker with a long step in jab. He doesn’t have insane volume, but he also doesn’t chase nonsense. He has no problem gauging range with that long jab and then circling to reset. He doesn’t have the best footwork, but he has solid defense where he protects his chin and rolls with the punches. He has a ton of power though and when he finally commits he can pours it on and can put you out. Not a ton of tape on his grappling but I’ve seen him both defend takedowns and get taken down at a pretty low level.
