Alex Perez vs. Asu Almabayev

PEREZ VS ALMABAYEV

Alex Perez has Dana White nudes on his phone. That's literally the only explanation I could have as to why he is still here and as employed as he is. What are we doing? This should be an easy win for Asu. I get that Alex is a tough vet, I get that his losses are to top 5 fighters on the planet, I get that he was beating Tatsuro Taira before the knee injury (not up for debate, this is an actual fact), but this is just a bad stylistic matchup for Alex. He will look good early with fast striking, then ultimately be taken down a couple times and lose a decision. Asu is the pick and I am pretty confident in the over 2.5.

Alex Perez

Alex Perez is a very good striker with fantastic low kicks and solid wrestling. He enters the pocket with solid boxing combinations and then finishes those exchanges with leg kicks and then circles out. He averages more than 2 takedowns per fight and has a sold 77% takedown defense. He is coming off the knee injury loss to Tatsuro Taira where he won the first round but then had his knee pop while supporting Taira's weight

Asu Almabayev

Asu Almabaev is a flashy striker and a dominant grappler. He can control striking range and even work in spinning attacks before shooting big takedowns and controlling on top. He doesn't go looking for submissions but he does do a great job grabbing them in scrambles. He is strong, sets a nice pace and has plenty of cardio. He is coming off the decision win over Jose Ochoa where he wrestled hard but literally kept falling off.
