I don’t know what this fight is or how to approach it. Steven hasn’t fought in 4 years. His only UFC fight was a short notice UFC debut where he was knocked out in the third round after having some wrestling success but not much else. But it’s not like I can just fade the layoff because Chad also hasn’t fought in a few years. So we have 2 guys who haven’t fought in a combined 6 years but I am supposed to sit here and have an intelligible breakdown? That’s almost impossible. Asking me to break this down with any real insight is like asking Mackenzie Dern to not fake her accent. It’s impossible. If i assume they are basically who they were before, then Steven would be the pick because he has solid grappling and Chad can be taken down. Leave this fight the hell alone.
Chad Anheliger
Chad Anheliger is a power striker with solid BJJ if it gets to the ground. He sets a nice pace and hits incredibly hard. His takedown defense is just ok but it does fail him. If he is taken taken down he has sweeps and a solid get up game. If he gets on top, he will absolutely tee off. He has 6 fights in the UFC but has given up 19 takedowns including 5 in his last fight against Cody Gibson 2 years ago.
Steven Koslow
Steven Koslow is coming back after a 4 year layoff partially because of ACL reconstruction surgery. Given the layoff it’s hard to know what he will look like, but if we look at who he used to be, he is an aggressive grappler who has all submission wins. Despite being such a good grappler, he isn’t desperate to get it to the ground. He will march forward, strike and shoot a takedown when its there. He isn’t immediately diving at legs or butt scooting his way to the ground. His striking isn’t great and there isn’t much power there, but he uses it and you can’t ignore his pressure.
